DRY EYES

Dry eyes commonly occur when the eye is unable to produce enough tears or is producing low-quality tears that are unable to lubricate the eye sufficiently. Symptoms include redness, itching, and burning eyes. Dryness can be aggravated by many factors, including air conditioning, heating or looking at a computer for too long.

DIABETES

While Marano does not diagnose or treat diabetes, it does treat the visual complications that can occur with it. Poor blood sugar management can have a significant impact upon your eyes, sometimes leading to diabetic retinopathy. Those with diabetes also have a greater chance for developing cataracts.

Macular Degeneration is a condition in which the macula, a small region near the center of your eye, degrades. It leads to the loss of central vision, affecting your ability to do any number of tasks, such as reading or driving.

GLAUCOMA

Glaucoma is a group of diseases that can damage the eye’s optic nerve and eventually lead to vision loss and blindness. Risk factors include age, race, family history, and certain medical conditions.

HYPERTENSIVE RETINOPATHY

Hypertensive retinopathy is damage to the retina caused by high blood pressure. Smoking, high cholesterol and diabetes can also add to further damage of the eye. Symptoms include double vision, dimmed vision and loss of vision.

CATARACTS

Cataracts are the clouding of the eye’s lens, which can create blurry, dulled vision, and make it difficult to see at night. They develop slowly, often creating no problems in the early stages. There are four different types of cataracts we treat: nuclear, cortical, posterior subcapsular and congenital.
