Matthew Marano Jr., MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist and nationally recognized leader in laser vision correction and advanced cataract surgery. As founder and director of Marano Eye Care — with offices in Denville, Livingston, and Newark, New Jersey — he brings subspecialty-level expertise to one of the region's most comprehensive ophthalmology practices.

Dr. Marano earned his undergraduate degree from Columbia University and his Doctor of Medicine from George Washington University School of Medicine. A trusted referral destination for colleagues throughout New Jersey, he has been named a New Jersey Monthly Top Doctor for more than a decade — a distinction reflecting both his surgical outcomes and his reputation among peers.

Among the first surgeons in the country to perform bladeless laser cataract surgery, Dr. Marano remains at the cutting edge of vision-restoring technology. His surgical expertise includes LenSx femtosecond laser cataract surgery, iLASIK with Advanced CustomVue wavefront mapping, implantation of advanced technology intraocular lenses (including multifocal, toric, and extended depth of field IOLs), and iStent microdevice implantation for minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). His team performs more than 2,000 major eye surgeries annually in a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgical facility.

Dr. Marano currently serves as Chief of Ophthalmology at Saint Barnabas Medical Center and Saint Michael's Medical Center, where he lectures regularly on surgical technique and the management of complex ocular disease.
